Hi everyone! It feels so good to be in the blogging world again! Between craft fairs, classes, Birthday parties and dealing with sickness, it's been a tiring few weeks. But things are starting to look a little better so here I am with a tutorial on how to make a Christmas gift card holder. Let's face it, we all have loved ones in our lives that love a gift card over the actual gift and I don't mind accomodating them, lol.
We made this card at my class on Monday and I promised everyone I would post this so here it is! I wasn't very happy with some of the pictures I took but hopefully it's clear enough that you get the idea.
You are first going to start with a piece of cardstock that measures 4 1/4 x 10 1/2. Now you'll want to score it at 3", 4 1/4", 5 1/2" and 8 1/2". You can see my score lines in the photo.
Now you'll fold the score lines like you would an accordian.
Use a thin band of tombow glue or sticky strip and adhere the two sides together, see picture.
Take your SU! word window punch and slide it just half way in, but don't go too far to the sides or you'll lose the part that keeps your gift card from sliding out. You will have to punch twice to get it big enough for your gift card to fit in. Once that's done take your circle punch, I used 1 1/4 but you could a different size. Slide it in about a third of the way and punch. You now have your slot for the gift card. I like to try it with an actual card so that I know wether I need to widen the slot.
Here's a picture of how the gift card slips inside. (Sorry I didn't have an actual gift card handy so I guess you could call this a plug for the Scene card, lol) Now all you need to do is use coordinating designer paper and cardstock to finish your card. I used the corner rounder punch on the card to give a little extra umph but you wouldn't have to.
To make the band that wraps around you are going to need a piece of cardstock that measures 7x1 1/2" and a matching piece of designer paper that measures 7x1". Adhere the the designer piece of top of the cardstock. Loosly wrap it around the folded gift card and glue the ends together. To finish the card I used the wide oval punch and the stamp is from the Hostess Level 1 set, Christmas Punch. Adhere that to the front of the band, which hides the seam as well as gives the card a nice finished touch!
Well that's my tutorial, hopefully it all made sense.
Thanks for stopping by!
